Ben Rempel is a percussionist and composer whose work is a confluence of many musical practices including western classical and contemporary music, free improvisation, jazz and creative music, Brazilian music, and cross-cultural collaborations. He has performed with improvisers Peter Evans and Anthony Davis, percussion ensemble red fish blue fish, the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, and legendary Filipino singer Grace Nono. He has premiered pieces by George Lewis, Thomas Meadowcroft, and Adam Rudolph. A frequent interdisciplinary collaborator, he has co-composed and performed in several dance productions.
Ben has a master’s degree from UC San Diego where he studied with Steven Schick and a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College where he studied with Michael Rosen and Jamey Haddad. He lives in Los Angeles.
